Welcome to the New Regional COVID-19 Hub Data Diary

Here at the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), we are committed to providing the region with the most accurate, informative data possible. We do our best to present data that tracks the evolving COVID-19 situation in simple, easy-to-understand visualizations. We believe equipping the community with better data can help us all make effective decisions in this difficult and uncertain time.

While our goal is simplicity, we know COVID-19 data is often complicated. We want to be more transparent around the complexities associated with collecting and compiling COVID-19 data. MARC will begin publishing a regular blog to help readers better understand the data on the Regional COVID-19 Data Hub. Readers can look forward to:

  • How-to style articles outlining the data methods used to compile COVID-19 data analyses and how COVID-19 data “works” behind the scenes.
  • Summaries of the trends we are seeing in the data to help readers interpret the data that’s shown.
  • Announcements for updates in methods, definitions and sources as they may occur.
  • Notes on any interesting or unusual observations in the data that we find during our daily data maintenance.

If you are following COVID-19 data closely in the media, on our dashboard or elsewhere, consider this blog a field guide. We aim to regularly provide these updates, so tune in to read the latest. You can also sign up to get notified in your email when we post a new update.
